St. Pierre is quaint, French-flavored town, with a population of about 2,000. Its central attraction is the island's oldest church, which has a large handicraft shop behind the altar, which is even older than the church (1695). Visitors love the handcrafted pottery, beeswax candles, dolls, scarves, woven rugs and blankets found in the shop and elsewhere around town.
